seele canada

the highest level of façade expertise

Spectacular architectural icons are rising in Canada’s cities, and seele canada Inc. has the expertise to turn these visions into reality. Offering the full range of seele’s façade construction services, the company focuses on premium steel-and-glass and all-glass façades. Backed by seele, Inc.’s experience in North America and a top-tier supplier network in Canada, seele ensures the highest quality at every stage of the project.

Notable examples include the West Block Rehabilitation Project of the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa, where seele modernised the neo-gothic ensemble with a vaulted glass roof over the central courtyard. This space now serves as a chamber for the House of Commons, offering optimal light, shade and temperature control. seele also designed and installed the roof and columns.

Another key project is the Grand Hall at Place Ville Marie in Montreal, seele’s first all-glass construction in Canada. As part of the esplanade’s revitalisation, seele installed a glass pavilion, creating access to an underground food hall and shopping centre and transforming the area into a vibrant urban gathering spot.

construction under extreme conditions

Whether facing extreme weather or unique country-specific challenges, seele consistently rises to meet the demands of every project. To accomplish complex building envelopes, extensive tests are usually necessary in advance. Particularly in the case of highly sophisticated solutions with complex geometries, the impact of extreme thermal cycling loads must be tested on critical construction details. In accordance with international standards, corresponding tests are carried out on full-scale mock-ups under extreme conditions.

thermal cycling tests carried out by seele

One typical test involves the thermal cycling test procedure, in which the structure is exposed to extreme temperature loads. For our projects Brookfield Place in Calgary and West Block Rehabilitation Project in Ottawa, for example, three mock-ups were exposed to temperatures ranging from -35°C to +82°C. The goal was to estimate the loads in critical situations so that important findings could be obtained regarding how the design performs.
