05/04/2018 For the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, seele implemented the façade from stainless steel tubes. State-of-the-art 3D planning and parametrisation of the design, the highest material competence and demanding logistics were of importance.
To turn that vision into reality, façade construction specialist seele created a building envelope for the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture as a completely free-form surface using thousands of stainless steel tubes bent in three dimensions to cover a total area of 30,000sqm. Such a façade of stainless steel tubes spanning across all storeys had never been built before. Therefore, many tests were necessary, plus special programming for the bending and measuring on the free-form bending machines. By using C# programming and data collection in a database, seele was able to build a mock-up and self-learning machines within four months. Once again, seele has demonstrated its power of innovation, which in this project involved really expert programming.
