sculpturally folded: stream tower in berlin

Every day, light and shadow move across the many projections and recesses of the building envelope surrounding the 97.5 m high Stream Tower in Berlin, continuously changing its appearance. The dynamic façade, realised by seele, is a prominent feature of the city’s skyline.

elements of the dynamic façade

The majority of the offset floors were designed as a unitised façade. Each façade unit measures 2.7 x 3.5 m and consists of a large glass area and an opaque, operable panel. seele connected the individual units using a plug-in system, concealing the joints behind a glass panel with a printed dot pattern.

transparency and dynamics

The façade emphasises the dynamic character of the office building by allowing for a light-filled atmosphere inside as well as views of the city and the Spree River. The dynamic arrangement of the floors creates terraces, with glass balustrades enhancing the building’s luxurious appearance.
