Although media and stage technology is a new venture for seele, this project is a perfect fit: immense scale, ultimate precision, unprecedented design – all on a tight schedule. Spectacular video images displayed on the outside of the spherical structure, measuring 160 m in diameter, captivate onlookers. But the real highlight takes place inside the Sphere itself, where the immersive experience – active engagement in the shows – reaches entirely new levels. seele was entrusted with creating the gigantic interior LED screen wall, which covers an area equivalent to two football fields.
 

precision matters for media façades

The giant screen is the world’s largest curved LED display. Working closely with the client’s team from structural analysis to fabrication and installation logistics, seele developed a substructure system that provides the best means of attaching the stage and LED technology while maintaining optimal, uniform image quality. The screen wall of the Sphere exemplifies an extraordinary team effort, combining structural engineering, design, precise fabrication, LED technology, stage construction, and entertainment expertise.

AI used to create screen wall

seele manufactured around 47,500 high-precision components, each unique and unlike any other. The production of the screen wall required utmost accuracy, as daily temperature variations of up to 10°C affected the material’s expansion. An AI application provided the solution: a 3D coordinate measurement device recorded the ambient temperature and processed results in real time. The data was analysed to adjust the cut lengths of the aluminium bars used to support the screen wall. Thus, each component was fabricated precisely in accordance with the final installation conditions, assembled, measured, and then disassembled for shipping.
