seele’s brief also included the provision of main and side entrances as well as the façade. The main entrance incorporates a vestibule with a glass roof and a glass fin on each side. The panes of glass for the façade are supported by solid stainless steel frames which hold the glass in position. Owing to the traffic in this city, erection work could only be carried out at night, which also involved closing off Canton Road at times. seele’s site crews managed to erect one façade element each night, even though they usually had only about five hours in which to complete their work. Besides the façade and vestibule, seele also produced, delivered and set up an all-glass stair. The steps of this stair are held in place between the glass string and the stainless steel wall lining by fittings laminated between the panes of glass.
