seele (UK) Ltd. – experienced partner for innovative façades and building envelopes

In the UK, some breathtaking structures are being built. Renowned architects rely on the planning and construction skills of seele (UK) Ltd. for turning their façade designs into reality.

Founded in 1994, the London office was one of the first European branches of seele and has been instrumental in seele becoming the market leader in cutting-edge façade construction that it is today.

Extensive construction projects in the densely populated city of London represent a particularly great challenge for contractors. Here, seele (UK) Ltd. has comprehensive expertise in just-in-time production and precise logistics. A large number of completed façade construction projects in the English metropolis testify to the extraordinary experience of seele (UK) Ltd. Milestones include the Principal Place Commercial and 5 Broadgate office and commercial complex, sports facilities such as the Aquatics Centre or shopping centres and retail stores such as Westfield and the Apple Store Covent Garden. Current construction projects include Battersea Power Station, Wimbledon Stadium and the Peninsula Hotel. Especially in infrastructure projects, seele can draw on its comprehensive façade construction expertise.

With the Canary Wharf Crossrail Station, seele is implementing an exciting material combination of wood and ETFE cushions. 10,000 m2 of membrane roof, 778 two-part, air-supported ETFE cushions and 564 steel knots form the sophisticated building envelope design.
A self-supporting shell structure, spanning almost 9,000 m2, was erected in front of the listed station building King´s Cross. Directly above the heavily frequented underground station, under difficult assembly conditions, seele implemented a gigantic steel-and-glass construction within one year.
The largest volume of work at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 3 was carried out on the new façade in front of the building. The insulating glazing produced for the large-format drum louvre achieves pane weights of almost 500kg. Nevertheless, due to their invisible fastening and flush-mounted design, they appear "lightweight".
The eye-catcher of Tottenham Court Road Station are two crisistall entrance buildings. The two sculptural all-glass bodies have a striking effect, which is accentuated at night by integrated LED lighting.
