Thermal cycling tests carried out at seele

02/13/2023 Extreme weather conditions, such as the incredibly cold temperatures the northeast of the US and Canada experienced over the last weeks, have to be taken into account when realising complex building envelopes. For our international projects, we exposes scale mock-ups to extreme conditions in appropriate tests.

One typical test involves the thermal cycling test procedure, in which the structure is exposed to extreme temperature loads. For our Canadian projects Brookfield Place in Calgary and West Block Rehabilitation Project in Ottawa, for example, three mock-ups were exposed to temperatures ranging from -35 to +82°C. The aim is to estimate the loads in critical situations so that important findings can be obtained regarding how the design performs.
