Not far from the Main Cathedral, Apple's 17th retail store in Italy opened in 2018 in a top quality location. Similar to the famous retail store on New York's 5th Avenue, the store is situated in the basement. Surrounded by a plaza with generously laid out stone steps, the entrance design is an impressive all-glass cuboid. In addition, two water fountains on the left and right draw attention to the cuboid.

For this first project in Italy, seele was commissioned with design, fabrication and installation of the 12m wide, 8m high and 2.5m deep cuboid.

  • The long sides consist of 4 facade panels each, both the short sides and the roof of 1 glass panel each. The special feature of this structure is that the glass panels are connected only by structural silicone, and not by stainless steel fittings. The resulting maximum transparency makes the entrance of the retail store a real highlight. On the short face, a single leaf glass door is integrated into the facade, serving as an entrance door. The facade panels are anchored in the ground by a stainless steel structure all around.
    With this retail store, Apple has created another store with a unique design and, at the same time, redesigned a whole plaza, inviting people to linger outside the store. seele has once again proved its outstanding competence in all-glass structures with this project.
