extraordinary suspended roof for the car wash in kehl

Within the new construction of the car wash in Kehl-Sundheim, seele realized the extraordinary membrane roof of the suction place. The membrane roof developed by Wilhelm + Partner is intended to support the revitalisation of commercial areas.

The geometry of the roof construction consist of a comb-like steel substructure, resting on branched columns with a grid structure. seele manufactured the steel construction out of tubular bar elements with different wall thicknesses. The suspended roof rests on 6 tree-like supports which lift the roof to a height of 9m at the highest point.

  • A total of 710sqm printed 2-layer ETFE film cushions provide weather protection. In summer the UV resistant ETFE film provides the required sun protection at maximum daylight and in winter the films compensate for the wind and snow loads by enclosing the air volume. The roof also provides a spectacular eye-catcher thanks to the integrated lighting: During the day, for example, the canopy can be illuminated in warm, reddish tones, or in the evening after dusk it can adapt to the dark blue tones of the night.

The design lends even this everyday place the highest elegance. seele proves that every project, regardless of its size and location, deserves the best solution.
