Start of installation on the construction site Stuttgart 21
A light eye consists of 8 steel construction segments. Each segment is suspended and adjusted via 3 lattice girders using chain hoists and heavy-duty belts. The segments can then be welded together – in any season and in any weather. The installation area above the light eye is completely roofed. Shipping containers form a container enclosure. These serve both as a supporting structure for the 3 lattice girders, which are important for fixing the steel construction segments, and as supports for the roof structure.
In addition to the construction progress on the first light eye, further container enclosures are now in place. At peak times, 200 employees will be working on 10 light eyes simultaneously.
